ANOTHER epic Finder Masters tournament saw Glen Durrant and Lisa Ashton back on top at the Zuiderduin Hotel in Ergmond aan Zee, with Keane Barry taking the youth title.
Durrant faced tough opposition against home-favourite Richard Veenstra in the final. Veenstra was leading 3 sets to 1 at the interval, however Duzza came back fighting to win the next three consecutive sets and become the Finder Master for the third time in his career.
Flyers had taken earlier victories over fellow Dutchman Wesley Harms and England’s Scott Mitchell en-route to the final, whilst Durrant enjoyed a 3-1 win over Conan Whitehead before meeting World Number 2, Mark McGeeney in the semis. The high scoring match went the way of the reigning World Champion, who’s superior checkout rate saw him take another 3-1 victory over the Gladiator.
In the Ladies tournament, Lisa Ashton qualified alongside England’s Fallon Sherrock for the final. Despite a strong performance from the Buckinghamshire sharp-shooter, Ashton proved too strong on the day and claimed her second Finder Masters title with a 2-1 victory.
Ireland’s Keane Barry was in top form as he took the youth title without dropping a leg all tournament. Barry beat both Lars Plaister and Nathan Girven, who features in the BDO Lakeside World Youth final next year, 4-0 before taking a comfortable 2-0 victory over Levy Frauenfelder.
