Scott Waites takes on Glen Durrant in the 2019 BDO World Professional Darts Championship final on Sunday evening. Both player will be looking to add to duet of World Titles already under their belt, with Middlesbrough thrower Durrant looking to emulate Eric Bristow’s long-standing record of three consecutive titles at the Lakeside Country Club.
Waites, who is from Yorkshire, defeated Tony O’Shea in the 2013 final to win his first World Championship. Adding a second in 2016 as he blew-away Canadian thrower Jeff Smith in a one-sided final, notable defeating Durrant at the quarter-final stage.
Durrant has won the coveted trophy on the last two occasions, defeating the Netherland’s Danny Noppert In 2017 for his first Championship success. He would double his tally a year later as he beat Mark McGeeney in one of the most thrilling finals the Lakeside has ever seen.
The last three meetings between the two have all ended in ‘Duzza’ victories, most notably Durrant defeating ‘Scotty-2-Hotty’ in the final of the Welsh Open. Both players’ averaging stand well over the 90-mark going into Sunday’s final, but both know they will need to up their game if they are to be crowned a three-time champion.
