Aileen de Graaf knocked out Lincolnshire’s Paula Jacklin in the first round for the second time in two years. The Dutch thrower will be looking to exceed her tournament best of a semi-final run at the Lakeside, but will now face Anastasia Dobromyslova in the quarter-finals.
De Graaf would take a two-leg lead in the opening set of the match, a 79 checkout from Jacklin would half the deficit. But the world number three kept her cool to take out tops for a 1-0 advantage after Jacklin had missed to bull to take it to a final leg.
The second set would prove to be a slightly simpler assignment for the 28-year-old as she ran away a 3-0 winner on her won throw. She was just millimetres away from nailing a 150 finish to seal the match in style, but eventually had to settle for double top as she marches on into the final eight.
