Lorraine Winstanley is safely into the quarter-finals after she dispatched of Casey Gallagher over three sets. The former Winmau World Master was pushed all the way by her comparatively inexperienced opponent, as Gallagher nailed a 180 on route to a narrow loss.
Gallagher had darts to win every leg of the opening set, but her clutch doubling could not live up to the experienced Winstanley’s as she took the first set. Lorraine would dominant the opening exchanges, an 80 checkout on tops was closely followed by a 160 attempt, Winstanley just millimetres away from adding a third top checkout of the tournament. Ultimately the miss would prove costly as Gallagher stole the set.
Despite a 180 in the final set, Gallagher couldn’t muster the darts that had seen her defeat Winstanley at the World Masters in 2018. Winstanley running away with the match and booking her place in the final eight.
