The weekend saw Robbie Phillips and Sandy Hudson come out on top in a field over 400 players at the 40thFleetwood Memorial Las Vegas Open Men’s and Ladies 501 Singles.
The CAT C BDO ranked competitions saw the number 16 seed Phillips take a narrow 6-5 victory over Shawn Brenneman, whilst the experienced Hudson, who entered the tournament ranked number six, beat the number one seed Paula Murphy 5-3 in the Ladies final.
Phillips took a comfortable 5-2 victory over Norman Madhoo in the semi-finals, whilst Benneman secured his place in the final with a 5-3 victory over Tom Sawyer.
Hudson was in top form all day, making her way to the final with wins over Michelle Spicer, Kristy Davis and American International Robin Curry before beating Cassy Scantlen 4-0 in the semi-finals. Murphy’s semi-final encounter against Joanne Luke saw her move into the final stage with a 4-2 win over the number five seed.
