DAVE CAMERON put an end to Jeff Smith’s winning run as he beat his fellow Canadian in the final of the Hub City Open.

Smith had won the last three BDO tournaments he entered and looked set on making it four in a row before Cameron edged out the 2016 Lakeside World Professional Runner-Up 5-3 in the final and retain his 2018 title.

Cameron beat Adam Stella 4-2 in the semi-finals whilst Nick Smith was beaten 4-0 by Jeff Smith.

The result sees Cameron extend his lead on the Canadian regional seasonal table, with Jeff Smith moving up into second place.

The Women’s final was contested by two Canadian youth players, as Hayley Crowley faced Emily Alford for the title.

Crowley beat ‘From Russia with Love’, Anastasia Dobromyslova 3-1 in the semi-finals, who has been touring Canada for the last week, whilst Alford beat Danna Foster, the current Canadian number one, for her place in the final.

The final saw Crowley take her first senior BDO title, beating Alford 4-2; the future of the ladies game in Canada looks very promising in this pairs hands!
