LAST WEEKENDS events in Northern Ireland saw number one seed Jim Williams claim his first title of the 2018/19 season to be crowned Northern Ireland Open Champion. 

Williams faced Irishman Francis Carragher in the final, who progression in the tournament marked his first world-ranked final. Williams dominated the final match, taking the title in straight legs 6-0. 

Williams saw off a strong challenge from Wesley Newton in his semi-final, winning 6-3, whilst Carragher beat Aaron Turner 6-2 in the second semi-final match of the day. 

Lorraine Winstanley took the 2018 Northern Ireland Open with a confident 5-2 win over Russia’s Anastasia Dobromyslova. In the semi-finals, Winstanley battled from 3-1 down to take a narrow 4-3 victory over Kirsty Hutchinson. Dobromyslova beat Julie Thompson 4-2 in their semi-final clash.

Beau Greaves claimed the Northern Ireland youth title with an impressive 4-0 victory over William Byrne with a 24+ one darts average.
