Head to head previews of day 3 of the BDO Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship.

Afternoon session

13:00 - David Cameron Vs Andy Hamilton

In the opening match-up of the afternoon, Canada’s David Cameron takes on Lakeside debutant Andy Hamilton. Both players have a wealth of big stage experience, but it’s Hamilton who will enter the tie as the favourite. After enjoying a tremendous debut year on the BDO circuit, ‘The Hammer’ has lifted himself inside the top 20 of the BDO rolling rankings. Cameron is a five-time competitor at Frimley Green, but has never made it past the first-round stage. Can he cause an upset in 2019?

14:15 – Oliver Ferenc Vs Ryan Hogarth

Regional qualifier Oliver Ferenc will face Scotland’s Ryan Hogarth in the second match of the session. Ferenc will become the first Serbian player to represent his country in the BDO World Professional Darts Championship and will need to find his feet quickly against an in-form Hogarth. The 26-year-old Scot came through the play-off’s in Bridlington earlier in the year and will take confidence from his England Classic and England Masters appearances in September as well as an impressive opening round win at the BDO World Trophy in Preston.

15:30 Willem Mandigers Vs Paul Hogan

The Netherland’s Willem Mandigers enters the tournament as number 13 seed following a Denmark Open victory in 2018. He will face the winner of a preliminary match between Paul Hogan and Wez Newton. Both players have an abundance of pedigree on the big stage and will cause plenty of problems for the free flowing Dutchman. Having made the last 16 twelve months ago, Mandigers will be looking to reach that stage once again, with a win on Monday afternoon.

Evening session

19:00 – Michael Unterbuchner Vs Justin Thompson

Michael Unterbuchner begins his search for a first BDO Professional Darts World Championship against the winner of an all Australian clash between Mal Cuming and Justin Thompson. The German was a surprise semi-finalist twelve months ago and will be looking to go one step further this time around. ‘T-Rex’ reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts back in November and will fancy his chances of another deep run at the Lakeside as he guns for his first BDO major title.

20:15 – Anastasia Dobromyslova vs Laura Turner

Three-time women’s champion Anastasia Dobromyslova will open her 2019 campaign against Lakeside debutant Laura Turner, on Monday evening. The Russian has won four BDO ranking titles in 2018 and made a further four finals. Turner has experienced her best year on the BDO circuit in 2018, rising to prominence with a British Classic victory in September. She defeated Dobromyslova in the quarter-finals that weekend, before demolishing Lisa Ashton 5-1 in the final. Will Turner continue her breakthrough year on the Lakeside stage?

20:45 – Jim Williams Vs Roger Janssen

England Masters champion Jim Williams will be looking to build on a sensational year as he goes in search of a first BDO World Championship crown. This year’s number three seed has won five tournaments on tour in 2018, but did not make a major final. Having been knocked out by eventual champion Glen Durrant in last year’s World Championships, the Welsh number one will be out for revenge, as the two could collide in what would be a scintillating semi-final clash.

22:00 – Daniel Day Vs Dean Reynolds

Essex’s Daniel Day returns to the Lakeside stage following last year’s round one encounter with Martin Phillips. The 30-year-old from Romford has found his feet on the BDO circuit in the past 12 months, having made the step up from county darts to the professional circuit. Day appeared in all four major events as well as adding a Swedish Open victory to his name in 2018. Cardiff’s Dean Reynolds was a World Trophy semi-finalist in 2016, but has yet to make it past the last 16 at the World Championships in three attempts. Could this be ‘Dynamite’s’ year?
