Mark McGrath made light work of an injury-stricken Adam Smith-Neale, blowing ‘Big Dog’ away on the Lakeside stage with a 3-0, straight sets victory. The match was played under strange circumstances due to the fact that Smith-Neale has suffered significant damage to his leg in the months leading up to the BDO World Professional Darts Championships.
The Winmau World Masters champion used a crutch on stage, as he was whitewashed by an inform McGrath. The New Zealand thrower took every leg in what was a difficult match for the Lakeside debutant.
After the match ‘The Grinder’ said: It was difficult to play Adam, and a lot of hard work. Everything before the game was difficult as well. You can see him hobbling up the stairs and you know he’s in a lot of pain. So mentally to prepare for the game and play the darts you want to was very hard”.
