Maria O’Brien became the second women’s player to confirm her place in the semi-final’s as she defeated tournament favourite Fallon Sherrock in one of the most efficient performances we’ve seen in 2019.

‘OB’ recently made the final of the PDC World Championship qualifier and was defeated by Lisa Ashton in the final. She will now be looking to reach her first final on the Frimley Green stage after beating Sherrock in the quarter-finals.

O’Brien was lethal throughout the contest, recording a 40% checkout rate as she took the match 2-0 against the Milton Keynes ace. Double top handed her the opening set and a break of through in the second gave Sherrock plenty of ground to make up.

Sherrock turned the game on the its head with an excellent shot on double eight, but O’Brien would nail tops again for two apiece. Some more heavy scoring from the former Romanian Classic winner gave the time to close out the contest in two sets, putting her into a first ever Lakeside semi-final.
