Krzysztof Kciuk’s magical Lakeside run came to an abrupt end as he was defeated in straight sets by a confident looking Scott Mitchell. ‘Scotty Dog’ took the trophy home in 2015 and will be hoping to claim the BDO’s biggest prize once again, after he defeated Kciuk to reach the final eight.

Whereas Mitchell couldn’t reproduce the sensational average from his match with Oliver Ferenc, he did put in a professional performance in beating the tournaments surprise package.

The Dorset thrower was out of the blocks quickly with a 3-2 victory against the throw, before closing out the second set in more convincing fashion. An 81 checkout in the third set increased the advantage to three, before a brief comeback from Kciuk was fended off late in the fourth set. A pinpoint Shanghai 120 checkout took the set to a decider where Mitchell’s experience would show. Two missed darts were pounced on by Scott who reached the quarter-final stage for the third time in his career.
