Glen Durrant continued his quest for a third consecutive BDO World Championship crown as he took on Wolverhampton’s Scott Baker in the final match of the evening. ‘Duzza’ was unable with his performance in the previous round but saw plenty of improvement in his win over ‘The Mod’.
Durrant raced into a three-set advantage and it appeared that the game was over, averaging just shy of a ton as Baker struggled to get a grip. Some terrific clutch doubling would see Baker reduce the deficit, but the game was far from over.
A spectacular 140 checkout from ‘The Mod’ levelled proceedings after Durrant had struggled on the treble 20 segment. Durrant would recollect himself to take out a pivotal 84 on the bullseye and more importantly break the Baker throw. After a simple hold of throw, Durrant was break once again, a maximum setting up double 12 as he pounced to set up a mouth-watering tie with Kyle McKinstry in the quarter-finals.
