It is with deep sadness that we have learned today about the passing of BDDA player Tony ‘The Tiger’ Pass.
Tony, a former corporal of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers had been suffering from IPF, an incurable lung disease, and tributes have been flooding in across social media following the devastating news.
Tony took up darts in 2007, and since his diagnosis, found solace within the darts community, including the BDDA and WDDA, who helped come to terms with his disability. He was a founding member of the BDDA and despite his illness dedicated so much time and effort into the organisation.
Tony was a quarter finalist in the 2015 WDDA Winmau World Masters Championship, a quarter finalist at the WDDA European Open in Blackpool 2016 and semi-finalist at WDDA Welsh Open 2016. Tony fulfilled a darting ambition the same year when he played on the Lakeside stage after finishing seventh in the BDDA ‘Road to Winmau’ tour.
Most recently, Tony claimed top spot in the inaugural WDDA Malta Open, where he beat Hungary’s Miklos Joszef 3-2 in the final.
His captivating personality and passion for the game he loved so much will leave a big hole in the hearts of so many people. Our thoughts are with wife Christel and all his close friends and family at this sad time.
