CANADIAN’S Jeff Smith and Joanne Luke both tasted success this weekend as they lifted the Halifax Open titles, just 12 months after both being edged out in the 2018 finals.
Luke, runner-up to Patricia Farrell in 2018, went one step further as she beat fellow Canadian Tracy Powers in the final. The additional points should see Luke move up to 50thin the world and cement her position as the highest placed Canadian player on the Ladies BDO rolling table.
Danna Foster also went one step further than 2018 as she and Canadian National Youth Champion Emily Alford made it to the semi-finals.
Smith is currently riding a wave of success following his fourth consecutive tournament win and third BDO title of the 2018/2019 season.
Smith’s 2018 Halifax Open campaign ended in the final at the hands of Kiley Edmunds, but his current form saw him power past fellow Canadian Joslain Bourque 5-1 in the final to take the title.
Lakeside regular Dave Cameron had to settle for the semi-final spot again, alongside Steve Vautour who were both placed joint third.
