DARTS AUSTRALIA held both the DV Easter Classic and the DV Geelong Classic in Victoria this weekend, with top honours being shared by Adam Rowe, Joanne Hadley, Justin Thompson and Tori Kewish.
The DV Easter Classic saw Adam Rowe take his first tournament of 2019 with a narrow 7-6 win over World Number 30 Justin Thompson. Reaching the semi-final stages were John Kitchin and 2019 Lakeside debutant Mal Cuming.
The ladies event saw Joanne Hadley take her first BDO ranked title of the season with a 6-3 win over Leanne Wilson. Overall winner Hadley beat the in-form Tori Kewish in the semis, whilst Wilson beat Barb Smyth.
The DV Geelong Classic saw Justin Thompson go one step further to take the 2019 title, beating his opponent Brandon Weening 7-1 in the final. Thompson, in a repeat of Saturday's final, faced Adam Rowe in the semi-finals in another match that went the distance, this time with Thommo edging Rowe out 6-5. Weening beat Jeremy Fagg in the second semi-final 6-5 to reach his first BDO ranked final of 2019.
The ladies Geelong Classic saw Tori Kewish take her seventh tournament win of the 2018/2019 season. Kewish faced Amanda Loch in the final, beating her fellow Australian 6-1 with a 24.40 (73.20) average. Loch won through a tough match 5-4 against Nancy Myers in the semis, whilst Kewish beat Chloe Kilpatrick 5-1 to reach the final.
The results see Kewish remain in the top 20 of the BDO rolling table and Thompson move into 30th place. The duo are set to compete in Europe as they travel over for events in Denmark and Wales next month. Hadley moves into 84th place overall and the win for Rowe sees him leapfrog Mal Cuming into 57th position.
