There are an abundance of returning champions scheduled to appear on Monday
afternoon as the last 16 line-up continues to shape up at the o2 Indigo. Japanese
megastar Mikuru Suzuki is the headline name in the evening session, whilst Martin Adams
versus Scott Waites is also expected to to excite.
Our afternoon action is rounded off with twice World Championship semi-finalist Wesley
Harms facing the winner of John O’Shea and Andreas Harrysson. O’Shea had been
touted as one to watch following his exploits at the World Masters back in October, but
faces a tough test in the shape of Harms.
After her incredible victory 12 months ago, Mikuru Suzuki returns to the steel tip stage
looking to continue her unbeaten streak in the Ladies World Championship. Her first round
opponent Maria O’Brien will take heart from last years semi-final run, but ‘The Miracle’
understandably goes into the tie as heavy favourite.
Crowd favourite Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams also returns to the stage for a 26th World
Championship appearance, and of course his first at the magnificent o2 Indigo. Whilst the
London crowd is expected to be on the side of the two-time champion, former World and
Grand Slam champion Waites holds a considerable threat.
