Glen Durrant is up and running in his quest to become the first three-time consecutive BDO World Professional Darst Champion, since Eric Bristow. He faced Mark McGrath, who came through a first round tie with Winmau World Masters Adam Smith-Neale.

The Middlesbrough man blew the New Zealander away in the opening set of the match, a 76 checkout securing the advantage on throw.

McGrath would charge right back at the BDO number two with a spectacular 122 checkout on the bullseye, but that was all ‘The Cowboy’ could muster as Durrant doubled his advantage not long later.

Durrant would be pushed all the way in the final set of the match as McGrath took two legs, forcing Durrant to take out 116 for the match, setting up a tie with Scott Baker in round two.
