David Cameron continued his excellent form as he defeated BDO veteran Gary Robson in the final match of first round. Cameron makes the last 16 for the first time in his career, with the win over the BDO number seven.
The Canadian star hit his peak in the opening set of the match, a 100 plus average leaving ‘Big Robbo’ in the dust. With the 51-year-old not at the races in the first set, Cameron would seize the initiative against the throw. But a crucial 99 checkout kept him in the contest, Robbo letting out a roar as the dart landed in the double 16 bed.
Cameron would return to form in the third set to edge back in front, before he continued to pile pressure onto the Newcastle man in the final set of the match. A 101 checkout would give ‘Excalibur’ breathing room, as he nailed double eight for a career defining victory on the Lakeside stage.
